Concern over unrest at Masjid Al-Aqsa

The Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) is gravely concerned about the unrest and violence at the blessed Masjid Al-Aqsa compound and the surrounding Old City.

We pray for restraint and calm in the area that is dear to both Muslims and Jews and plea to Governments across the world, including our own, to come together and find a peaceful, swift and sustainable resolution to this ongoing conflict that continues to result in the unnecessary loss of countless lives.

A mosque is a place of sanctuary and contemplation and like any other place of worship should be afforded the utmost protection and respect by all. Worshippers must be allowed to go about their daily prayers in peace, free from intimidation, violence, threats and provocation, as must those visiting the area.
