Re-introduction of Halal school meals

Following close working between the FMO, Leicester City Council and Muslim Parents Association Leicester (MPAL) to reach a resolution to the Halal School Meals issue,  please see the attached letters that have been circulated to head teachers and parents in the City.

The work we were involved in was mainly around developing a specification in adherence with the Halal criteria that is acceptable to the majority of Muslims in Leicester, which has resulted in a new HMC approved supplier of raw meat products, JW Youngs, being awarded the contract by Leicester City Council.

We sincerely hope you will once again take up the offer of Halal School meals, but should you still have any concerns, we would advise that you please consult with your local Imam or religious scholars.
